The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned England cricketer Moeen Ali from wearing "Save Gaza" and "Free Palestine" wristbands.
Their reasoning? The slogans are of a “political” nature. Over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in the past three weeks, including 200 children, but “Save Gaza” is political?
Credit to England on this occasion who allowed him to wear the bands as they understood that his messages were humanitarian, before their decision was overruled by the ICC.
Moeen, who is Muslim and of Pakistani descent, helped raise funds for charities working with those affected by Israel’s three-week assault on Gaza.
It gets worse. The whole England team are wearing the logo of the Help for Heroes charity on their shirt collars today to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war.
